New Year’s Eve Party 2011
We held our first New Year’s Eve Dance for a number of years last night .  The event was a sell out with 90 people attending.  The evening started with a glass of bubbly to get people in a festive mood.
The programme was a mixture of modern sequence (Shamar Saunter, Rumba Adora etc) and party dances such as the Gay Gordons and a dance devised by Tricia which was danced to the Sham’s “Tell me Ma” which was accidentally played faster than usual testing the stamina of the dancers.
Two elimination dances were held and a quiz whereby selected ladies had to name the items covered by table cloths as quickly as possible.   However unbeknown to them Gerald was hiding under one of the cloths giving the participants a nasty shock when they looked under the cloth.
There was a well supplied American Supper and large raffle.  The evening finished with Auld Lang Syne and the Conga (photo left).  More photos of the event can be found on the photo page.
Christmas Dance 2011 with Larry Green
We held our Christmas Dance on Saturday the 10th of December with excellent seasonal music being provided by Larry Green.
There was an excellent turn out with 80 people being present.  Tricia and Brian were the evening’s MC’s supported by Joan and Gerald.
The dances were a mix of new (eg Kelham Quickstep and Rumba Juliet) and older sequence (eg Oliver’s Cha Cha Cha and the Silver Spring’s Foxtrot).  There was also an Old Time Medley consisting of the Ava Rose Gavotte, Tango Serida and Balmoral Blues.  There were several leaders present from other Clubs giving a good turn out for the Leader’s Dances.
Sherry and mince pies were served to give a seasonal flavour to the normal refreshments.
Our next event is our New Year’s Eve Party which was sold out two months ago.
August Carnival Ball a Sell Out!

Our August Carnival Ball was a sell out with over 80 people attending to dance to the wonderful music of David Last.  Dress code was colourful casual and attendees wore a wide range of colourful outfits.
The evening was MC’d by our leaders Tricia and Brian.  Unfortunately our Deputies Joan and Gerald could not attend as Gerald has recently been fitted with a pacemaker.  Hopefully they will be back dancing with us soon.  The programme consisted of a mixture of 20 old and new dances such as Waltz  Catherine, Watkins Waltz,  Silver Springs and Mahonia Foxtrots, Tango Solair and Mosaic, Saunters Shiraz and Sanrio etc.  The progressive dance was the Sally Ann Cha Cha Cha.  The two leaders’ dances were the Bedworth Blues and the Myrtle Mambo.
An American Supper provided ample food for all and an extensive raffle was held.  Further photos of the event can be found on our Photo Page.
Our next Saturday dance is on October 8th to CDs and all are welcome.
Successful May Ball Held - 14/5/2011

We had 71 attendees at our recent May Ball.  Excellent music was provided by David Last and the MCs were our leaders Tricia and Brian who were supported in leading off by the other Club leaders present.

The varied programme consisted of old and new sequence dances from the Saunter Reve and Bluebird Waltz to the Ava Rose Gavotte, Talisman Tango and Aruba Cha Cha Cha.

An American Supper was held with plentiful food to go around.  A large raffle was also held.

The Ball was a great success for the Club and we hope you will all be able to join us for our Carnival Dance on the 13th August again with David Last.  Further photos of the event can be seen on our Photo Page.
